Boxed wine gets its moment to shine

“During 2020, world wine consumption dropped 3% compared with the previous year. According to the ‘State of the World Vitivinicultural Sector in 2020’ report published recently by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, some of the most pronounced trends in global wine consumption were the increase in demand for value-for-money products, notably bag-in-box wine (wine sold in containers of 2ℓ to 10ℓ); and the simultaneous decrease in the demand for high-value products such as sparkling wine. There are also early signs that the recent rapid growth in China’s wine sector is slowing down.
