Kia Ora

seems like just the other day that I was interviewing Jacinda Ardern for our“25 Women We Love” cover story to mark our 25th birthday. Back in 2014, she was simply a list MP, but we knew she was destined for bigger things, boldly referring to her as a “future prime minister” as we dressed her up like Wonder Woman with a silver sash across her forehead. I mean, if that’s not grounds for a wedding invitation, what is? You can read all about Jacinda’s upcoming big day on page 16. Meanwhile, as I wait by the letterbox, I’ll be googling my local community pest-control groups. Inspired by our story on heroic wildlife warrior women – as well as a recent trip to Rangitoto Island, where I saw ka¯kariki and t¯eke in the wild! – I’m joining the crusade to help save our precious native species. I’m even asking for rat traps for my upcoming birthday (sadly, not my 25th). As our Kiwi scientists say on page 30, we all have a part to play.
