Banksia silos

AVENSTHORPE IS A town where an affection for wildflowers is evident the moment you arrive. An enormous mural detailing different) – a species found only between Esperance and Albany – has been painted across the town’s three 25m-high grain silos. Street artist Amok Island deliberately used colours from the Colorbond paint range that would match the hues of structures in the region’s towns. He also included local fauna such as the honey possum, one of the main pollinators of banksias. He used 338L of paint and spent 31 days on the mural. The work forms part of WA’s PUBLIC Silo Trail
