DON’T STOP THE MUSIC
Dance was our lockdown salvation. It lifted our spirits in lounge rooms and backyards where we’ve watched it on social media, learnt combinations and mimicked our favourite artists. Parris Goebel and her amazing army of dancers are some of those who became our inspiration – how we bounced back.
The 29-year-old Kiwi choreographer is speaking from LA, where she now lives. Her home, a mid-century house in a suburban Sherman Oaks cul-de-sac, is decorated in sorbet colours and fabulous 50s vintage furniture. The interior is expressive, a reflection of her personal style: Goebel can rock a green Gucci shirt, a baby-blue bag and pink glasses with a Chanel necklace all at once like no one else.
She has arrived back in LA after months in lockdown at home in New Zealand, a period she admits was difficult. “I’m such a free spirit.
