PRINCE ALBERT OF MONACO AND CHARLENE WITTSTOCK
Jubilant crowds rejoiced in the three-day nuptials of Prince Albert of Monaco and his bride, former Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock. The festivities began with a concert by the Eagles on 30 June, followed by a civil ceremony attended by the royal family in the Palace of Monaco’s Throne Room on 1 July. After being declared husband and wife, the smiling newlyweds appeared on the palace balcony, where they exchanged a kiss.
Royal families from all over the world attended the religious ceremony the following day, held in the courtyard of the picturesque palace. Guests who jetted into Monaco for the wedding included the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Naomi Campbell, Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani and Karolína Kurková.
Charlene looked exquisite in a beautiful off-the-shoulder Armani Privé silk gown with a dramatic train, which was adorned with 40,000 Swarovski crystals, and her tulle veil was attached with a breathtaking diamond hairpiece, which had once belonged to Prince Albert’s grandmother Princess Charlotte.
