MY LIFE IN PICTURES… RICHARD WIGGL ESWORTH

FINE LINE

“This was a Schalk Brits show. I don’t think we’d had a pre-season game or I hadn’t had one that year, so I remember being really nervous before that game (first of the season against Northampton at Twickenham). I wasn’t sure how we were going to go, but we turned up and absolutely spanked them (55-24).

“I was thinking, ‘Flippin’ heck, how did that happen?’ We came out of the blocks quickly. It was a nice one to put away as I remember going into the game not knowing how we would be. We moved the ball really well that day and in this photo I took an inside ball from Duncan Taylor close enough that I couldn’t not score.”

DEBUT TIME

“I was on the bench the week before against Wales but I didn’t get on. I was stood on the sideline but the ball didn’t go out in the final minutes. I was a bit of a brat afterwards, not thinking about the team losing but about me not getting on for my debut. Then the next week (against Italy) I got a bit of time.
