Professor Vilakazi – inspiring future leaders

THE need to inspire future leaders and create hope for young children in dusty townships throughout South Africa was a key message from Professor Zeblon Vilakazi during his inauguration as vice-chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

His message of hope to children growing up in similar conditions as him, previously expressed to the media following the announcement of his appointment on June 25 last year, remained a consistent theme during the hybrid ceremony on Thursday in the Great Hall and online.
