Winds of change

MG Motor UK announced that it wants to make electric cars affordable for everyone and the HS PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) is part of the current UK electric model line up. It has a short-range battery motor as well as a petrol engine, so range anxiety is avoided. MG hasn’t gone ‘full electric’ across the range as yet. It still offers the petrol-powered HS models with both the manual 6-speed and automatic 7-speed options, both of which are available in two trim levels of Excite and Exclusive, along with the MG3. The UK HS petrol manual starts at £20,995 and the top of the petrol range (DCT-7-speed, which is the sportier automatic model) from £24,995 OTR. Between the HS PHEV, MG5 and ZS EV, MG Motor UK expects electric and petrol hybrid electric cars to make up 50% of its sales.
