TIME FOR BEDS

Many of us grow flowering plants in containers and pots, from geraniums to petunias, but what about growing your veg in containers and raised beds?

There are a multitude of reasons why people grow in raised beds in their garden or allotment and I must admit that the majority of my veg garden is a combination of large pots and raised beds, with the flower borders being some of the few plants which are planted straight into the garden soil.

I used to grow everything in the ground on my allotment, but when we created our kitchen garden we had to terrace the sloping garden and it resulted in the surface soil not being good enough for me to grow in, as it had stones
