Ryland Grace is definitely not based on Andy Weir. In Project Hail Mary, Grace – a man who wakes up in a ship in deep space not knowing where he is or even who he is – faces the task of figuring out how to save an Earth that’s heading for oblivion as a result of a faltering sun.
