Streeton Reconsidered

The impressively comprehensive survey of Streeton’s career curated by Wayne Tunnicliffe for the Art Gallery of New South Wales (7 November 2020 to 14 February 2021) gave us ample material to answer this question. That’s what good surveys do – they provide the critical mass which enables us to better understand individual works and how the artist made key shifts. It also helps to evaluate an artist overall. This was the first major Streeton survey since the National Gallery of Victoria touring exhibition of 1996 and it is much more substantial.
