A problem shared…

We tend to think of the syndicate as a traditional way of game shooting whereas it is a relatively modern invention, dating back only to the middle of the last century. And the roving syndicate is more modern still. When we established our team of wandering Guns three decades ago, it was still something of a toe-dip into uncharted – and possibly hazardous – waters.

Let me therefore share some of the issues I have encountered over the past 30 seasons, which may help any of you considering such an adventure for your shooting friends.

The team

Obviously, the core of the team will be your friends. It would be a bit daft to go recruiting total strangers, after all. And they will be friends who shoot. So they are safe, dependable and reliable. A team’s reputation is regulated by the performance
