Wild at heart
I've always had a fascination for these beings who have returned to the wild. I first encountered brumbies in the bush, in the Aboriginal communities where I worked for 12 years. The impression of their power and their grace never left me. Australia has the largest population of wild horses in the world. These animals are the progenies of horses brought over by the settlers that then escaped or were abandoned. They’ve adapted to every environmental condition: deserts, mountains, forests, coasts and even islands. Through natural selection they have developed an inexhaustible stamina. Brumbies are inquisitive and big-hearted. Once you have earned their trust, you will share a bond unlike anything you’d experience with a domestic horse.
