WHY TEAM HARD IS AIMING HIGH WITH ALL-NEW CUPRA TOURING CAR ATTACK
Among the driver swaps and team ownership handovers, the British Touring Car Championship’s down-season has presented headlines on almost a weekly basis. But quietly in Kent, Team Hard has got on with its own business.
In its 30,000 square foot premises on DetlingAerodrome, it has put together its fresh plan for the 2021 season and it is a huge step forward for the squad, which will be 10 years on from its first entry into the tin-top top-flight under the Tony Gilham Racing guise.
The reason 2021 will be a big one is that the team has swapped its ageing and long-serving VW CCs – which would have been entering their final season as homologated BTCC racers this year anyway – and has built up four brand-new Cupra R machines.
The hatchbacks will be driven by Jack Goff,Aron Taylor-Smith, Glynn Geddie and Nic Hamilton this term.And all of this will be operated alongside Team Hard’s myriad programmes in championships such as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Ginetta Supercup and Juniors, Mini Challenge and a host of other categories.
