Tony, or Tone, has embarked on some serious promotion of the industry in the best way possible in these times.

He has become what the kids call an “influencer”.

These social media influencers use the power of electronic media channels like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and other platforms, and I am too old to know about, to inform and entertain.

Tone has captured the imagination of the trucking community. He is a role model for up and coming truckies with his Facebook show Tones Trucking Stories.

He is the typical Aussie bloke, a former footy player and comes across as a down to earth, oozing authenticity. It is this persona that is resonating with younger people wanting to get into the trucking industry. After 15 years in the job, and now a social media personality, Tone is careful with the messages he puts in the public eye.

He lives by one simple rule, especially when he is talking on one of his videos, “I preach what I know, If I don’t know something, I ask other people”.

He says it’s one of the most responsible things anyone in old media or new media can do, get an expert opinion.

Trucking has been recognised as an “essential” industry in 2020.
