Adam Habib is not black

THE international controversy created by the former head of the University of Witwatersrand and now also the former director of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Prof Adam Habib, calls for the defence of Black Consciousness (BC) philosophy as it has been cynically mobilised to defend the embattled professor.

At least two groups of Habib defenders have directly appealed to Black Consciousness in their quest to minimise the impact of his wanton use of the N-word.

Habib used the full N-word during a Zoom discussion where a black student asked a question around the SOAS policy on the use of the word.
