The beautiful SOUTH
When I say I’m planning a USA road trip, most people assume I’m meandering down Route 66 or Highway 101 from LA to San Francisco. These are arguably the most popular tourist trails for a self-drive American holiday but I’m going off piste, heading for the lesser-explored states of the Deep South. I want to visit the birthplaces of my favourite music, consume fabulous foods of all kinds, explore the childhood homes of big-league writers, experience the local culture and be among some epic scenery. It’s a big ask from one holiday, but the more research I do the more convinced I become that this all-encompassing journey through Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana is going to deliver.
