It’s hard to believe, but the oodles of jewels Ian added to Troy’s lapel were actually just the leftovers from his other sparkling projects. The couple used their seating assignments as an excuse to write a heartfelt note to every guest. “I thought it was such a simple, beautiful way of having Ian’s butterfly-appliquéd jacket included a subtle homage to family. “The lapel had bee appliqués on either side as a nod to my dad and stepmom who are bee keepers in their spare time,” he says. “My dad had just become a master beekeeper that summer.” To stave off the evening chill, on-palette blankets were laid out for guests.
