After completing the mangaadaptation, Magical Taluluto-Kun, Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori – soon to become world-famous as the creators of the franchise – decided to design an original title together. As the next generation of consoles reared its head, they wanted to produce something that would raise the bar that the spiky blue hedgehog had set years earlier. The result was , a high-voltage platformer, overflowing with creativity, engaging gameplay and some of the console’s most beautiful visuals ever. One of the last games developed for the Mega Drive, and the duo’s last before transformed them into international superstars, it was a masterpiece, pushing the console’s capabilities to the very limit.
