Leading the royal family’s tributes to his “dear Papa” last week, the Prince of Wales praised the Duke of Edinburgh’s “remarkable devoted service” to the Queen, his family, the nation and the Commonwealth.

An emotional Prince Charles, who now becomes the patriarch of his family, also thanked well-wishers for their support.

Speaking outside Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home,
