Changing the Narrative

Fashion has always been a big deal in the country despite its lack of representation in the international realm (we do have Josie Natori and Monique Lhuillier to be proud of but both live in the US). Pre-pandemic, local fashion was thriving with shows, consistent collections, openings in malls and more. The local flair has never as well as witnessed the acceptance of Filipino-inspired looks in everyday life spurred on by designers such as Marga Nograles for Kaayo, Paloma Urquijo Zobel for Piopio, Anne Marie Saguil for Amarie and many more. What’s needed now are visionaries to take Philippine fashion to the next level and not just copy what others are doing.
