THE CHAMPIONSHIP came out of lockdown with a bang when Cornish Pirates turned over three-times European champions Saracens on the opening day. That 25-17 win left Pirates flanker John Stevens with a broken nose, generated more headlines than any other game that weekend and threw the debate over the Championship’s status into the mix once again.
