The pandemic-fuelled explosion in motorcycle nostalgia has led to a massive growth in VMX and vinduro as viable alternatives to mainstream motocross and AORC. Unlike the current adventure-bike craze, the very nature of vintage racing means there are no state-of-the-art weapons being produced at ridiculous prices.

Instead we must trawl through online sites to buy used equipment, trusting in the providence provided by motivated owners in what is a seller’s market. The limited number of viable options has led to shysters and the plain ignorant advertising machines that push the envelope of caveat emptor, and pitfalls abound for the less well-informed.
