WHEN MOTORSPORT GOES BEYOND A JOKE

Motorsport is full of fresh thinking an innovation. It is one of the most appealing aspects that sets it apart from many other sports and competition. The drive to push the boundaries comes from all angles and it is as important as the urgency against the stopwatch.

The constant pressure to reinvent technologies and the challenges that motorsport presents can lead organisers, engineers and the rulemakers to think in some highly unusual ways. And there are those ideas, too, which go just that bit too far.

It just so happens that this issue of Motorsport News hits the news stands on April 1, so we thought it was appropriate for us to take a look back at some of the more outlandish ideas that have made the headlines in this newspaper.
