that Ben Ainslie and Team Britannia had managed to turn things around so magnificently in the Prada Cup. On the one hand, I was obviously excited about the very real prospect that, after a 160 year losing streak, the UK might that that the losing streak is there , I felt uneasy about letting it pass. I can't say I was delighted when Team Britannia stumbled, but I felt slightly more like the equilibrium of the world as I know it remained in place. It's the smallest consolation but I'm clutching at straws here. Anyway, congrats to the Kiwis for keeping hold of the cup. Moving on to other subjects, the current Covid related restrictions about where we can cruise are temporary but there was a section within Neil Matson's narration of a trip from the Spanish Rias back to the UK on p40 that really made me sit up. It was his explanation of how to conduct that same cruise post Brexit. The trip turns from an exciting sailing trip to a logistical nightmare mired in ports of entry, customs clearance and the like. Having done my fair share of this in Caribbean ports, I can attest to its misery. I'm loath to speak about Brexit as I realise it is a hugely divisive issue but, wherever you sit on this debate, I think we can all say as sailors, that at the very least, the three month time limit for remaining in the EU is a huge drawback for cruising plans which significantly narrows our horizons when it comes to summer sailing.
