The Waata are a tribe of hunters who tend to be very small, wiry people. I can see they are agile climbers, because this month they are thatching our farmhouse roof on the ranch with 55,000 coconut fronds called makuti.
This is how they have had to employ themselves since their traditional way of life was destroyed. Until quite recently, they were famous for their unique skills at tracking and killing elephants.
