EXPLORE THE MAJOR PENTATONIC

Hey there, bass players! Now that you’re familiar with major and minor triads, I’d like to explore the world of pentatonic scales.

Don’t worry—we’ll touch upon seventh chords in a bit. But first, we’re going to meet halfway between the triad and major scale with, you guessed it, a five-note or pentatonic scale. By paring down the scale to just five tones, we’ll add a few consonant options to our arsenal while shying away from notes that could sound a bit squirrelly.
