THE HIGH LIFE

I don’t mind a challenge. Multi-day walks for me often mean long days, maybe a handful of river crossings and a dash of wondering where the hell the track goes. They mean eating ramen noodles and tuna for dinner (because they’re light) and then falling asleep by 7pm in my little one-person tent (because there’s not a lot else going on.) It’s a simple life but one I love.

So when Tasmania’s Three Capes Track opened in late 2015 I was sceptical. Luxury huts, a heavily upgraded track and a $495 price tag. How much?! And all for a four-day walk where you still have to carry your own pack and sleep in a bunkroom.
