HEATING DEBATE FOR A SELF-BUILD: WHAT SYSTEM TO CHOOSE?

We are currently awaiting planning permission for our self-build and are debating what type of heating system we should use to heat our water and underfloor heating. We will definitely not be using gas or oil which leaves us with some form of electric heating. The plot is small and does not lend itself to a ground source heat pump unless we bore down, which I think would be cost prohibitive. That leaves us with:

Option 1 An air source heat pump [ASHP]. These seem to be popular, but my concern is they seem expensive to purchase and require a specialist in renewable systems to install.
