A champion of social cohesion
Sulosh Pillay, philanthropist and community activist:
King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, to me, was social cohesion personified. He represented peace and inclusiveness and fostered this ethos by even celebrating Diwali at the palace every year. He loved community interactions and projects that would benefit the people of our country and KwaZulu-Natal.
My interactions with him were around community outreach and empowerment. It was an association that spanned over three decades. March 12 was a sad day for us when, at just 72, he exited this earthly plane with so much still to be done.
On January 30, I sent a Covid-19 health pack consisting of an oxygen concentrate machine, spirometer, oximeters and Covid immune-boosting packs with Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu for His Majesty. These packs were being distributed by our ACT Foundation.
