Africa’s Covid-19 vaccination journey

THE phrase “prevention is better than cure” was seen in action in the past year as the world was forced to live by it in order to survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following advice put forward by global health organisations and governments, a number of interventions were put in place to protect citizens from the unknown – a disease which spread so rapidly and changed the world so quickly that it was declared a once-in-a-lifetime threat to humanity.

Messages to stay at home, wash your hands and wear a mask were reiterated. Above all, we were urged to social distance.
