Microsoft is putting the finishing touches to Windows 10X, which looks set to be the most interesting new version of the operating system since it launched in 2015.
It announced the system in late 2019, initially saying it would be built for foldable devices with two screens. However, it has changed course and now says the system will first launch on single-screen devices. The idea is to give users a simpler version of the operating system, with fewer tools and a more streamlined design (including a new-look Start menu – pictured above right), rivalling Google’s Chrome OS, which runs on Chromebooks.
