Black Sash writes to Mboweni

SOME recipients of the social assistance grant are unhappy with the new below-inflation increases Finance Minister Tito Mboweni announced during the 2021 Budget speech.

Mboweni said the old age, disability and care dependency grants would increase by R30, from R1 860 to R1 890. Child support grant will increase by R10 to R460. There was also an increase in the war veterans grant by 30 to R1 910, and the foster care grant by R10 to R1 050. The increases are effective from next month.
