Covid-19 Continues to Impact Art-World Calendar

Despite the rollout of vaccines, cases are still on the rise in various parts of the globe, impeding travel and causing further cancellations and delays for art events.

Most art fairs have gone virtual while physical events are limited. Art Basel’s in-person Swiss program will now take place September 23–26 instead of in June, while the Hong Kong edition, originally scheduled for March, will be held from May 21 to 23 with “ghost booths,” where attendants contracted by fair organizers will facilitate remote sales for international galleries.
