DURANCE FESTIVAL 2021 IS BACK! JULY 30TH - AUG 1ST

The 2021 edition of the Durance Festival Whitewater Sessions will take place this year, July 30th through August 1st. Bigger and better than ever, this year the menu features the now-classic WRSI Guil Gorge Chrono creek race on the Chateau Queyras Gorge, heaps of clinics (Waterfall Free-ride, River Sup, Girl Power, Safety, Open Canoe), an exhibitor’s village with tons of gear to test, a Sup Race, an open-air cinema in the evening, and a big stoke float on Sunday called La Grande Descente.This year again, a second-hand market and an intermediate event, the Freefall Paddles Lower Guil Rally! PADDLE SPORTS SHOW 2021, OCTOBER 2021, LYON (FRANCE)

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new trade show called The Paddlesports Show, which will take place in Lyon, France, in the first week of October 2021. Organized by the Kayak Session Publishing crew, the show will be more than just a trade show; the vision is to create an ecosystem of events and happenings, giving even more reasons to come and exhibit or visit for distributors, paddle enthusiasts, dealers, athletes, and manufacturers alike. The show will be held on the bank of the river Rhône, the perfect location to host an on-water demo day. THE PADDLER’S GUIDE 2021

The 2021 Sweet Protection Short Film of the Year Awards was the biggest yet, reaching over one million views and counting. One and No More by Mikel Sarasola was voted Best 2020 Short Film of the year in whitewater. Innbrooklyn by Adrian Mattern & Bren Orton took second place and a Little Rapid Somewhere in Tibet by Olaf Obsommer was Third.The Short Film Awards have become a milestone for filmmakers and producers worldwide, garnering loads of viewers, from kayakers to lovers of movies, action, and the outdoors. Everyone can enter, from super pros to beginner kayakers and filmmakers. Whether you submit to your film to win or just to participate, it is a great way to get noticed in the paddling world as well as the movie industry. LEVEL SIX BEATERS FOR ALL 2021: A CARNAGE-REEL VIDEO COMPETITION RETURNS!

We all love beaters! In a partnership with Canadian-based gear manufacturer Level Six, Kayak Session is excited to launch the 2021 edition of “Beaters For All,” a video contest showcasing some of our worst (or best, depending on how you see it) beatdowns and beater moments.The contest will run throughout the year, finishing in December. Winners will be decided by a jury of whitewater professionals and carnage lovers, in combination with the number of views received by each entry.The competition features two categories, the King of Carnage (a short video featuring one beatdown only) and the Beater’s Reel (longer videos, in a “highlight-reel style” that shows several beatdowns).The only condition is that no one was seriously injured in the footage shown.
