PROJECT 1 TIMBER WINDOW MAKEOVER

Without a regular coat of paint, timber windows can rot. Left unchecked, they can quickly become beyond repair and need replacement. It's much better to get in early with a quick fix.

Gather your supplies

• Epoxy filler

• Oil-based undercoat

• Enamel paint

• Glazing bead, 6mm Tasmanian oak quad moulding

You’ll also need

Paint scraper; old wood chisel; wood hardener; putty knife; various grades of sandpaper; paintbrush; exterior PVA glue; painter's tape; exterior gap filler

Here’s how

STEP 1 Use a paint scraper to remove loose or flaking paint from window.

STEP 2 Use an old chisel to remove brittle glazing putty from around the glass in the window.
