Your Wi-Fi problems solved

Why can’t I rename my Windows 10 networks?

Q I followed Will Stapley’s Get Your Fastest Ever Wi-Fi in 2021 Cover Feature (Issue 595, pictured right) and learned quite a bit – so thanks for that. On page 53, Will says that by selecting a Wi-Fi network before clicking Properties it’s possible to change the name that Windows 10 displays for that network. However, I can’t get this to work. I’d find this facility useful because I’m in an area surrounded by other routers. I know I could change my network’s name on my router but then I’d have to reconnect every device in my home. What am I doing wrong?
