UNTIL recently, Vauxhall didn’t have a great track record for SUVs. Its first were the Monterey and Frontera, which were rebadged Isuzus; as such they were rather workmanlike, and lacked finesse.
The Antara of 2006 was better but still uninspiring, so when Vauxhall finally upped its game with the Crossland X and Grandland X that both arrived in 2017, they were long overdue. The Grandland X was up against the Ford Kuga and the smaller Crossland X was a rival for the Renault Captur, and was more competitive than its predecessors. A facelifted version, now just called the Crossland, arrived last year, so now might be the perfect time
