FT: What was the genesis of the book?

PK: While I have published three previous books, they have all been about death. I had originally intended, as my next book, to write a history of pet cemeteries, which of course is very much related to the death material. But in the process of compiling that research I came across so many great cat stories, and I realised they had never gotten their due in the telling of history.
