WHY SHOULD I TRY IT? Sailing isn’t just a sport – it’s a lifestyle, with the thrill of the high seas matched by the excitement of regattas and fabulous on-the-water parties. It’s good for you, too: salty ocean air is full of negative ions, which can improve our ability to absorb oxygen. Plus, being a part of a boat’s determined progress can help us feel more alive and vital, sharpening minds and sweeping away the clutter of our daily lives.

WHERE CAN I TRY IT? Antigua

WHY HERE? Antigua is the self-proclaimed ‘Sailing Capital of the Caribbean’. Centred on English and Falmouth Harbour, its prestigious sailing scene attracts luxurious superyachts, high-tech racing machines and cruising boats, but there are plenty of opportunities for taking lessons in small craft, too.

In a regular year, Antigua’s sailing calendar is jam-packed with fixtures including the RORC Caribbean 600, a 600-mile offshore race taking competitors around or past 13 of the Leeward islands from Isles des Saintes in the south to Anguilla in the north.
