DONALD HEALEY AND THE AUSTIN

Donald Mitchell Healey was born in 1898 in Perranporth, Cornwall where he opened the first garage in the village. However, he became drawn to motorsport, entered the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally on several occasions and won the event in 1931. For some time Healey had harboured the notion to build his own sports car, and during WW2 he worked for Humber in Coventry, employed on military vehicles.
