Atlanta Writers Conference
The 2021 Atlanta Writers Conference, sponsored by the Atlanta Writers Club, will be held online and by phone from May 7 to May 9. The conference features presentations on publishing, including a workshop offering critiques of book titles, book jackets, and jacket copy, as well as agent and editor pitch sessions, manuscript critiques, and query letter critiques conducted by phone for fiction writers and creative nonfiction writers. Participating publishing professionals include editors Caroline Bleeke (Mac-Millan), Laura Brown (HarperCollins), Miranda Hill (Penguin Random House), Lara Jones (Simon & Schuster), Sarah Ried (HarperCollins), and Kate Roddy (Sourcebooks) and agents Priya Doraswamy (Lotus Lane Literary), Jessica Errera (Jane Rotrosen Agency), Sam Farkas (Jill Grinberg Literary Management), Emily Forney (BookEnds Literary Agency), Mark Gottlieb (Trident Media Group), Caitlin McDonald (Donald Maass Literary Agency), Colleen Oefelein (Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency), Nikki Terpilowski (Holloway Literary), Jennifer Chen Tran (Bradford Literary Agency), and Abby Walters (Creative Artists Agency). The cost of a single event ranges from $60 to $150; the cost of the full conference is $495. For nonmembers of the Atlanta Writers Club, an additional $50 membership fee is also required. General registration is rolling through May 9; the deadline to submit a manuscript for critique is April 5, and the deadline to submit a query letter for critique is April 26. Catamaran Writing Conference
The 2021 Catamaran Writing Conference will be held from July 25 to July 29 at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California. The conference will also offer virtual enrollment for remote participants. The conference features workshops, craft talks, and daily excursions for poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. The faculty includes poets Susan Browne and Joseph Millar; fiction writers Karen Joy Fowler, Lisa Fugard, Elizabeth McKenzie, and Josip Novakovich; and creative nonfiction writers Charles Hood and Dan White.
