The simple digital display at the front of most diet feeders is a critical tool for knowing exactly how much of an ingredient goes in and how much comes out with each cow group. But how many farmers store what was fed each day and how much of each ingredient was used?

Solving a problem

As it's often said, necessity is the mother of invention, and this adage was especially true for one Danish farmer, who used to print off an updated ration every day as cows moved groups and then made a note of any leftover feed. While he liked the information, he didn’t like the paperwork, so, together with some tech gurus, he developed Cowconnect. On the market since 2017, the app records and stores every load and mix as well as a host of other handy information.
