.270 Weatherby Magnum A Top Choice

Q Over the years I have read a number of your reports/articles dealing with the.270 Weatherby Magnum. I recently received my project rifle, a push-feed Model 70 Winchester from Jimmy Kent (Buffalo Gunsmithing Toowoomba) fitted with a 26” stainless steel Bartlein barrel with a 1:9 twist (for 150gn projectiles). I intend using 150gn projectiles to hunt red deer. We will have to see how fussy this rifle is with regard to flat base and boattail bullets. I am thinking of using Hornady SST, Barnes TSX, Sierra spitzer or Speer Grand Slam. I have RCBS dies and Norma cases trimmed to 64.40mm and slow powders - WMR, AR2213sc and RE22. Would AR2209 be a throat burner? Primers: WLRM, CCI 250, Federal 215, or Remington 9-1/2 - which one matches powder ignition? Total weight of the rifle is 4.6kgs with Leupold VX-III AO 6.5-20x40mm. I also had a new one-inch Pachmayr pad fitted to assist with recoil. own several Model 70 rifles that I reload for in calibres.222 Rem.,.257 Ackley Improved,.300 Win. Mag., and.375H&H Magnum (Super Express) the.270 Wby Magnum completes the set. I only need two good loads with flat-base and boattail bullets suitable for red stags during the roar.
