FRIENDS OF THE WORLD NOTES FROM OUR LONG-TIME SUBSCRIBERS

Loraine Snyder’s collection of Arabian Horse World magazine started with the first issue, and she hasn’t missed one since. Loraine has bred 188 registered Arabians and Half-Arabians in 52 years of breeding and has owned 269. At age 85, and despite health issues, she is still in the saddle.

MY EARLIEST MEMORY of Loraine Snyder was Christmas of 1985, when I was eight years old. I remember my mom telling my sisters and me to put on warm clothes and we headed over to Nancy and Michael Culliton’s Arabian horse farm. Loraine’s truck and horse trailer pulled up to the barn. She was wearing her trademark bright red lipstick, of course. Loraine unloaded our first horse, Ha Bebte (Chief Tonto x Khyleah) a 19-year-old, sweet, saucy, chestnut mare. My heart nearly burst with excitement. That was the beginning of a long and wonderful friendship with Loraine.
