I weigh less than WHEN I WAS 12!

Sitting across from us, the doctor turned to my mum.

‘She needs to lose some weight,’ he said, bluntly.

Aged 12, I tipped the scales at 76 kilos.

I loved my mum Mavis’ cooking, and out in the countryside, big hearty dinners and freshly-baked cakes were the norm.

I wasn’t ever bullied for my weight and played netball, so I’d never realised it was a problem.

The doctor referred me to a dietician but my weight crept up and by the time I finished
