Cartridge velocities: the ‘elephant in the room’

There are only three parameters that really matter in a shotgun cartridge:

• The size of the pellet, and we discuss endlessly whether we should be shooting No 5, 6 or 7 shot.

• The load in the cartridge.

• The velocity of the pellets coming out from the gun.
