With all the amazing developments in software amp simulation over recent years, you might think the process of actually recording a real electric guitar or bass through an amp in a room has become a thing of the past. Consider, however, that every guitarist spends time and effort developing their own sound, contributed to by their amp, pedals and playing style. To suddenly ditch all that in favour of universally available software would be a little hasty.
