Families milked for funeral costs

AS FAMILIES struggle to deal with the death of loved ones, they are also being forced to pay a lot more for funerals.

At the weekend, Tony Govender, a DA councillor, highlighted the issue on social media.

“Many families expressed concern that they were not being told what the fee for a funeral was and then, suddenly, they were given a bill higher than what they expected. Some people have paid up to R18 000 for a funeral.
