Glorious sunshine, a visit by the Prince of Wales and the increased use of rubber tyres on tractors and machinery were all part of the show reported in the 1934 Implement & Machinery Review. Meanwhile, visitors were also impressed by an increased presence of British tractors and curious to learn more about the diesel-engined and row-crop types.
Gyrotiller
Examples of modern agricultural engineering could be seen on the stand of John Fowler & Co. (Leeds), Ltd. Displayed were the “unconventional but quite effective” Gyrotillers shown in their 170, 80 and 30hp sizes made under Norman Storey’s patents. These machines were equipped with twin oppositely rotating tiller rings and bodies at the rear end which revolved in a horizontal plane.
